Napad se dogodio na autocesti A1, koja povezuje Milan i Napulj, kasno u utorak oko 20 kilometara od Milana, prenijela je novinska agencija ANSA u srijedu. Vozač je izbjegao i preostale prepreke koje su postavili kriminalci: čavle i nekoliko gorućih automobila. Tri kilometra autoceste bilo je zatvoreno nekoliko sati kako bi vlasti mogle očistiti put.
