Par dana prije početka snimanja novog filma "The Midnight Sky", George Clooney hospitaliziran je s jakim bolovima u želucu. Glumcu je dijagnosticiran pankreatitis, odnosno upala gušterače koja često zna završiti i sa smrtnim ishodom, no srećom, glumac je u bolnici trebao provesti samo nekoliko dana, piše Daily Mail. Inače, upala gušterače može biti vrlo blaga (već kroz nekoliko dana dolazi do oporavka oboljele osobe) ili vrlo teška i završiti smrtnim ishodom (otprilike 30% bolesnika s teškom kliničkom prezentacijom). Naime, zbog ubrzanog razvoja propadanja tkiva gušterače, teži oblici bolesti obavezno zahtijevaju liječenje u jedinicama intenzivne skrbi, često s neizvjesnom prognozom.
Za ulogu u novom filmu u kojemu utjelovljuje čovjeka koji je preživio katastrofu, Clooney je izgubio skoro 12 kilograma te vjeruje da je u bolnici završio upravo zbog stroge dijete.
"Mislim da sam prebrzo smršavio i nisam vodio računa o svom zdravlju", rekao je Clooney. "Trebalo je više tjedana da se oporavim, a s obzirom na to da sam redatelj, to nije lako jer mi treba energija", dodao je.
Njegov najveći projekt dosad
Neke scene iz filma snimali su na ledenjaku u Finskoj, a ovaj je projekt, tvrdi glumac, njegov najveći pothvat dosad. Osim drastičnog gubitka kilograma, Clooney je za ulogu trebao pustiti i bradu, što se nije svidjelo njegovoj supruzi Amal.
"Bila je sretna kad sam je obrijao jer mi se lice jedva vidjelo ispod tog nereda", rekao je slavni glumac.
Clooney i njegova obitelj, supruga Amal te trogodišnji blizanci Ella i Alexander, posljednjih deset mjeseci žive u Hollywoodu, iako imaju kuće i u Italiji i Engleskoj. The astronauts are unaware of the catastrophe that has befallen Earth, and it falls to Augustine to warn them not to return. Clooney's film adaptation appears to stick close of the novel. This post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe. The cast also includes David Oyelowo as Commander Tom Adewole, Ethan Peck, Sophie Rundle, Kyle Chandler as Matthew, Tiffany Boone as Maya, Demián Bichir as Sanchez, and Caoilinn Springall as Iris, a mysterious child that Augustine befriends in the Arctic. The trailer opens on a vast snowy expanse before cutting to Clooney's Augustine attempting to contact the astronauts aboard the Aether and exchanging a defeated look with young Iris before adding: "Is anyone out there?" Meanwhile, in deep space, Sully is attempting to make contact with Earth; three weeks have passed since the Aether's last communication with Mission Control. Augustine tells Isis that the Aether was supposed to be the hope for mankind's future: "In our galaxy alone, there are billions of stars. At least one of them has the potential to support life." The Midnight Sky will play in select theaters in December before coming to Netflix on December 23, 2020.
